FAQ'S
How much does it cost?
Prices start at just £2.50 for the unpainted bisqueware plus a studio fee of just £3.50 per person, which covers the cost of all the paint and stencils you use and the glazing and firing of your finished creation.
How long does it take?
Once again this varies with the size and complexity of the design. On average adults should allow up to two hours but it can take longer. Younger children tend to take less time than older ones.
What if I don't finish my piece in one session?
We'll look after it until you have time to come back and finish it.
Why is there a Studio Fee?
The studio fee covers the cost of the paint, glazing and firing, together with the use of the studio and all the tools, stencils and other equipment.
Why does my masterpiece have to be glazed and fired?
For food items e.g. plates, dishes, cups, mugs etc. only underglaze paints can be used. Our underglaze paints are lead free and non-toxic but need to be glazed and fired to bring out the vibrancy of the colours and to make the bisque food safe. Glazing and firing normally takes just a few days but it is well worth the wait. We also offer acrylic paints which do not need firing. However acrylic painting is only suitable for non food items e.g. ornaments, collectables etc. and do not have to be glazed or fired.
Is ceramic painting just for children?
Not at all! Painting ceramics appeals to all ages.
Are the paints safe and washable?
Yes, our paints and glaze are water based, lead free and non toxic. They are perfectly safe for all ages to use.
Are glazed ceramic items dishwasher safe?
Whilst the glazed item is dishwasher safe, we recommend that in order to preserve the finish and vibrancy of your unique item, you hand wash it!
Do you have a membership scheme?
Yes. The membership covers the studio fee for one year, and costs just £17.50 per person or £35 per family (up to 4 people).
Do you sell drinks and snacks?
Yes! We have a range of coffees and teas, cold drinks, cakes, snacks and chocolate.
What if I need help?
That's what we're here for. Just ask!
I've never painted a pot before in my life. I wouldn't know where to start!
A lot of people say this - especially adults! We can show you how to be an expert in less than two hours - and you'll have great fun learning.
I want something special as a unique present. Do you do commissions?
Yes, of course. Please call in to discuss your requirements and ideas.
Can I take paints/bisque home to paint?
Yes. We can let you have a 'home painting kit' on loan which you can take home with you. A refundable deposit will be required. Return your kit with your painted item(s) and we will glaze and fire them for you. There is a glazing and firing fee of just £5 for up to 5 items and £10 for up to 15 items.
What is parking like?
There is free parking for 300 cars outside our studio. Please click here for a map.
